Hadhrat Um e Ayman radi Allah ánha
Her real name was birka (barka). She was kaneez (slave girl) of the holy prophet's father . After he passed away she came into the ownership of the holy Prophet . After the death of holy Prophet's mother, Hadhrat bibi Amina radi Allah, she took the responsibility of the upbringing and care of Rasool Allah . She fulfilled this responsibility wholeheartedly and served Rasool Allah with great zeal. That is why Rasool Allah used to call her "Ya amma-h" (Oh my mother).

What to say about the greatness of the personality, to whom holy Prophet used to call "Ya amma-h" (Oh my mother)!

Rasool Allah freed her at the occasion of marriage with Hadhrat Khadija radi Allah. After getting freed she got married to Ubaid bin Yazeed. She got a son with Ubaid who was named Ayman, and she got famous with the name Um Ayman. After Ubaid she got married to Hadhrat Zaid radi Allah. With Zaid radi Allah she got a son, Hadhrat Usama bin Zaid radi Allah.

What was the place of respect and greatness in the eyes of People of Ishq and devotees?
This can be imagined with the following event!

Once there was a dispute between Hassan (the son of Hadrat Usama bin Zaid radi Allah) and freed slave Ibn Abi al Faraat. During harsh arguments Ibn Abi al Faraat called Hassan out as "Son of birka". Hassan said to the people present there to be witness for this. After this Hassan filed a claim for insult in the court of judge of Madinah (qadhi) Abu bakr bin Muhammad. Judge asked ibn abi al Faraat that why did he call Hassan "Son of birka"?

Ibn abi al Faraat replied: " I merely said the name of his grandmother, I did not abuse him".

The judge, who was Devotee of Rasool Allah, got angry at this repeated courage and said in extreme excitement (Jalal): " 'By calling him as "Son of birka" at the time of anger and dispute you have disrespected the name of blessed Birka...Do you not know the place and rank of respected Birka? You dare taunting Hassan as the son of that great woman; to whom Rasool Allah used to call her "Ya amma-h" (Oh my mother)! If I forgive you on this grave offence then may Allah never forgive me."

Then the judge declared this sentence.

"Ibn abi al Faraat is sentenced for seventy (70) lashes on the offence of disrespecting respected Birka."
