How do we pray?

Assalam-o-Aleikum Wa Rehmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

When we go to the mosque, we basically go to request, to beg in the majesty of Allah. We pray one or two days. We pray. How do we pray? Whether a scholar or a common man. Have we ever thought that the prayer is not a prayer? In fact, it is an appearance in front of Allah Almighty. The same scholar, the common man, when goes in front of a Minister or an MNA or an MPA, how would he feel? Similarly when he is appearing in front of Allah, what should be his feeling? Basically, when we come in the majesty of Allah, we come for request. This is the best word I have found is “request”. Many words are coming into my mind in Sindhi for this kind of feeling. In Sindhi, if I say it would be “leelain eenda ahin”. Meaning, have you ever seen a person who is not listening to you and you want to coax him, and it’s a matter of life and death to you. So what do we do? We beseech. We put our turban in his feet. We take our friends to him. Take our children to him. We try to use influence and make it our mission to please him.

All of you, tell with Iman, that have you ever tried to please Allah just as we tried to please that person. The hard work that we d0... Ever, for one day, or when you pray. How many pillars are there in a prayer? You stand, “Qayam”, this is also a pillar. You are bowing “Ruku”, prostrating “Sajda”, in thankfulness. All these are done. Any one pillar, any one “Rakaat”, any one “Sajda” in which you have called Allah from deep down your heart? And called HIM with great truth. In such a way that you feel your hair standing. You feel shivers inside you. You feel sadness, sorry, for what you have done. Has this ever happened?
