I’m no good at writing Swedish, so please excuse me for writing in English.

The Hanafis unfortunately have nothing like the Reliance in English (yet), but several fiqh books do exist, al-hamduliLlah. I know of the following:
-Nur al-Idah
-Al-Fiqh al-Islami
-Al-Hidayah vol. 1
-Ta’leemul Haq
-Heavenly Ornaments

Nur al-Idah and al-Fiqh al-Islami are both good but cover only ‘ibadat.

Al-Hidayah vol. 1 is closer to the Reliance, as Sister b mentions, because it also covers nikah, rada and talaq besides ‘ibadat. It’s quite advanced though and often mentions several conflicting positions on the subject. It's not as easy to look up rulings in as Reliance, unfortunately.

Taleemul Haq is perhaps not written in the best English but its rulings are sound according to Shaykh Faraz Rabbani and Shaykh Ashraf Munir. Like the others it also evolves around ‘ibadat. There’s an online edition on SunniPath ()

Heavenly Ornament (Bahisti Zewar) by Shaykh Ashraf ‘Ali Thanwi is really the closest the Hanafis get to the Reliance. There are several translations and Shaykh Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf and Shaykh Faraz Rabbani recommend the South-African translation (http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp? ... 4&CATE=103). Regarding using Reliance for looking up Hanafi rulings I have to concur with Sister B. It's a Shafi'i work and Shaykh Nuh (the translator) have only (or mostly) mentioned Hanafi rulings for the possibility of taking a rukhsa or showing the wideness of the Sacred Law. This is my understanding at least.

Man ska inte ta Hanafi fiqh från Shafi'i böcker eller vice versa (men det hindrar förstås inte att man kan läsa Reliance av andra anledningar - t.ex. dess utmärkta appendix om lika nutida frågor).

Det som mest liknar Reliance är kanske översättnignen av första volymen al-Hidayah av Burhan al-Din al- Marghinani, se t.ex. , kan t.ex. beställas från .

Annars är den bok man först bör studera "Nur al-Idah" av Imam al-Shurunbalali, med kommentaren "Maraqi al-Falah" av samma författare. Den fanns förut i engelsk översättning under titeln "Salvation of the Soul", men verkar inte finnas på marknaden längre.

Jag undrar om det finns en bok om Hanafi fiqh som ungefär motsvarar Reliance of the Traveller för shafi'iter..med motsvarar menar jag bara att den ska likna den som uppslagsbok samt vara på engelska. Jag undrar också om man egentligen inte kan använda Reliance of the Traveller som Hanafit också? För jag har märkt att det ofta står kommentarer om hur lagen ser ut i Hanafiskolan, är detta något som förekommer regelbundet? och kan man kanske till och med anta att när det inte står någon kommentar så har bägge skolor samma åsikt om saken?

Anledningen till att jag frågar är för att jag har en vän som är hanafit, och som saknar en fiqh bok, och eftersom jag inte är så insatt i just hanafi fiqh så skulle jag behöva lite vägledning vad för bok jag ska rekommendera! Så om någon har några rekomendationer så får ni gärna dela med er, inshAllah!
