"Hur kommer det sig att du aldrig gift dig, mulla?" frågade vännen.

"Jo", sa Nasruddin, "sanningen är den att jag ägnade min ungdom till att söka efter den perfekta kvinnan. I Kairo träffade jag en vacker och intelligent kvinna med ögon som svarta oliver, men hon var inte godhjärtad. Senare träffade jag en dam i Bagdad som hade ett generöst hjärta, men vi hade inga gemensamma intressen. Så träffade jag den ena kvinnan efter den andra, men det var alltid något som saknades. Men så en dag fann jag henne. Hon var både vacker och godhjärtad. Vi hade allt gemensamt. Hon var verkligen perfekt.

"Nå" sade mullans vän, "vad hände, varför gifte du dig inte med henne?"

Nasruddin smuttade tankfullt på sitt te.
"Ja, vet du", sa han, "det var sorgligt. Det var nämligen så att hon letade efter den perfekte mannen."
